Turmeric Coconut Drink - Does it Work?

This Turmeric Coconut bedtime drink is advertised in many places as great for joint health. I decided to give it a try over a lengthy period of time.


In 2016 I was diagnosed with arthritis in my right hip. I'm thinking this arthritis is probably due to an injury I suffered at age 12 when I fell about 10ft to the wooden gym floor from showing off climbing the hanging rope. Oh my gosh, I was such the daring girl who wanted to show I was as tough as any boy. I was limping for at least 3 months after that fall. So somewhere around November of last year (2016) I started having a lot of pain in this hip, so much so that it was difficult to lay on my right side for more than 2 minutes before severe pain would set in. My chiropractor confirmed it was arthritic. I kept seeing this Turmeric Coconut drink advertised on Facebook and decided I would give it a serious test.


Here are my results after consistently drinking this for the past 9 months.


NIGHT 1: Slept more soundly with vivid dreams too....YAY!

3 NIGHTS IN: I noticed I could  rest my elbow on my side without pain. I'm a kind of thin person and it's often been problematic when sleeping to rest my arm (bony elbow) on any other bony area (rib cage/hip) No more aching elbow.... AWESOME!

2 WEEKS IN: Pain in right hip completely gone while resting/sleeping on right side... ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC.... I AM LOVING THIS!

8 MONTHS IN: After consistently drinking on average of 6 nights out of 7. Pain in hip, just once in a while, like kind of vague  maybe 3 times out of the 8 months. Not sure it still helps with sound sleep.

9th MONTH: An accumulative effect. In July 2017 I took a trip to California for 10 days. Although I took my ingredients to continue my daily dose, I didn't drink it the whole 10 days; mainly because it just wasn't convenient. I expected to start having pain in my hip about the 3rd day in. To my surprise I didn't start having pain until my last night.


So for me...... this is a delightfully tasting drink that I will continue to enjoy and I encourage others to give it a try. Here's the recipe I use:


1 cup of unsweetened coconut milk. My favorite is SILK brand.

1 tsp turmeric

¼ tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp ground ginger or 1 tsp fresh grated ginger

1/2 tsp   organic unrefined coconut oil

5 to 6 peppercorns or a few shakes of black pepper (black pepper helps absorption of turmeric so it’s healing power is released)

3 to 4 drops of Stevia  - more if you like it sweeter.


Heat all together on med low, whisking vigorously until warmed to your liking.


Strain out peppercorns and ginger( if used fresh).
